Core Router Module
Overview
This is the heart of ASD's Plant Engineering Solutions product
line. It provides automatic cost-driven routing for piping in
a 3D environment for both FEED (Front End Engineering and Design)
and EPC project phases. This expert system enables engineers to
cost-optimize their designs, and dramatically reduce the man-hours
it takes to produce those designs.
Can be accessed through many different interfaces, enabling
great flexibility over the course of the design process. The results
can then be seamlessly exported to various detail design programs
such as PDS and PDMS
Automatically routes each line to find a clash-free, cost-efficient
route. By default, the program complies with ANSI piping design
standards, but other standards can be applied such as JIS and DIN.
A cost factor is assigned for piping according to material, pipe
size, number of bends and unsupported pipe selections. The user
can influence the piping route produced by editing these cost factors.
Using the Core Router with its various interfaces, the design
progresses from layout study and conceptual design phases to
basic design very easily. Because of its flexibility, data can be
easily added along the course of the process to create more detailed
and accurate information. When ready, the routes are fed to PDS,
PDMS or any other leading CAD system to kick-start your detailed
design.
Features
- Routes are Optimized Calculates shortest path
possible, reducing number of elbows and ensuring supportability.
Also configures routes to avoid long straight segments which eliminates
thermal expansion problems.
- Rule-based Nozzels Associated with Each Equipment Type
The program will automatically adjust these points according
to equipment orientation and position. The sequences in which
the lines will route depend on the pipe material, size, and branch
connections. Valves may be placed automatically by the program
or specified by the user.
- Routes are Free of Interference Utilizes a database
that stores routing space and allows pipes to 'see' each other.
- Engineering Considerations Incorporates the latest
industry standards to perform many engineering calculations for
each line to determine the optimal path. These calculations include
pipe stress check, supportability considerations, sloped piping,
and expansion loops.
- Tower hugging This facility forces lines to use
towers as support. Pump lines may be routed in a symmetrical or
asymmetrical arrangement. Tees are automatically sequenced according
to the location of the branch lines connected.
- Product is Flexible The software can accommodate
many different types of information and can offer customizations
as well. New features are added constantly to address the needs
of industry professionals.
- Two Different Modes Depending on which stage of
the project and how much information is available, two different
modes of operation can be used. One of the modes allows routes
to be produced even without nozzles points defined.
- Bottom Line Can consolidate input, make more information
available earlier, reduce man-hours for design, compress design
schedule, create seamless information flow into detailed design.
