Academic References:

Enterprise Supply Solution eProcurement (ESSeP) is an integration and workflow automation solution, developed to expedite the Air Force supply chain procurement process and enable electronic commerce between the Air Force and vendor communities. The solutions demonstrated enterprise application integration and automation of business functions residing in disparate systems located throughout the enterprise. The solution integrated Air Force logistics, contracting, financial and procurement systems, in order to dramatically reduce end-to-end transaction cycle times.

"With the (ASD-developed eSmith) portal, you log on once, it recognizes who you are, it sends authorization to the systems you need to use, and you're in. You can get documents on your shared drive no matter where you are as long as you have a Web browser and an Internet connection."

Dr. Sandor Boyson Chief of Information Strategy and Director of the R. H. Smith School's Supply Chain Management Center

"ESSeP demonstrates how to utilize an Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) framework to both promote process automation across existing Air Force systems and to provide a technical foundation for transition to an ERP."
- Mr. John Gilligan, Air Force CIO

"In the AI area we recommend researchers to visit along with XEROX PARC, ASD in San Francisco. They have done truly innovative work in path planning & automatic plant layout."

Professor Raymond Levitt, Stanford University, California

"The ASD SCP-AF portal has the potential to reshape Air Force logistics, allowing fewer people to move more resources around the globe in a more timely and mission-appropriate fashion than paperwork and phone calls could ever enable."
